I see the positive in every situation and every person I encounter. I approach every mistake as an opportunity to learn and to grow. The common theme throughout my life has been helping people. From working with young children, to finding someone’s dream home, to helping them lose weight, to starting a new career. I’ve done it all! ...then came 2020...THE PANDEMIC! Like so many others, I was laid off from my job. I admit, I took a moment to feel sorry for myself. Sure did😔 But I turned it around to focus on what I could do to help. There was so much fear, anxiety and sadness everywhere. You could actually feel the negative energy! I took this time to study Reiki Level 1 and Level ll. The art of energy healing. Life changing for me! I learned that energy is everywhere. People and objects are made of energy. If I could send healing energy and love into an object, it could then be passed on to others. What a concept! I started painting rocks. You know. The kind you find on a beach. I watched youtube tutorials because I had never really painted before and didn’t consider myself artistic. ‘Rachel’s Rocks Canada’ was my favourite, in case your interested. Learned so much from her channel! Anyway, I quickly became obsessed. Painting was like therapy for me. I spent almost every waking hour painting. When they dried I would seal them with resin to protect them from the elements. OMG! The resin finish was amazing! It made me so happy! It was like adding a shiny coat of glass to my painted rock! I strategically placed them along a path that my husband and I walked daily, in hope that someone would see it and smile! We all need a reason to smile today, don’t we? From there, my love for resin grew. I now work with mica powders, pigment pastes, alcohol inks, and more. Instead of rocks, my substrate is now a gallery wood panel or a canvas. I especially love to create geode inspired art! And seascapes! Well, anything to do with nature really! I will be adding healing crystals into some of my pieces to further enhance the Reiki benefits. I now know that I was led in this direction for a reason. My passion for helping others has evolved. Through my art, I can now connect with people while sending love and positive, healing energy!
